After serving as a rostered minister (ordained pastor) in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for almost 40 years, Johan retired and rewired and is excited to devote more time to his passion for life in varied ways. Married, with adult children and two grandchildren, Johan enjoys biking, hiking, cello (Central Florida Community Arts Symphony Orchestra), pickleball, spinning, golf, fitness training, traveling, birding, political advocacy, book club, time with friends, reading and writing. In 2023 he started up and manages a project related to his new book (see below) wherein he invites all to write down their definition/explanation of “The Gospel” in 100 words or less (www.justwhatisthegospelanyway.org). Johan earned his Doctor of Ministry at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, Master of Divinity, at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Bachelor of Science, College of Agriculture, School of Natural Resources, at The Ohio State University.
